American Society For Microbiology (ASM) Undergraduate Research Fellowships
Aimed at highly competitive minority undergraduate students who wish to, and have demonstrated the ability to pursue graduate careers (Ph.D. or MD/Ph.D.) in microbiology. Students will have the opportunity to conduct full time summer research with an ASM member and present research results at the ASM General Meeting.
AT&T Research Program for Women & Minorities Underrepresented in the Sciences
Participating students work on individual projects which are parts of the ongoing research in the lab. The projects are ideally designed so that they can be completed and reported on over the 10-week course of the summer. Candidates are paid a salary commensurate with other AT&T Labs employees of similar education and experience. Reimbursement for air or ground travel expenses to New Jersey. Arrangement for living accommodations at a nearby college for participants who want to make use of them. Candidates are selected on the basis of academic achievement, personal motivation, and the compatibility of their interests with current AT&T Labs activities. Those selected are assigned to projects which reflect their background and future goals.
Emma Bowen Foundation Georgia!!
Established by the media industry to increase access to permanent job opportunities for minority students. The Foundation's program is unlike other intern programs in that students work for a partner company during summers and school breaks from the end of their junior year in high school until they graduate from college. During that five-year period, students learn many aspects of corporate operations and develop company-specific skills.
The Gates Millennium Scholars Program
The Gates Millennium Scholars program provides outstanding African American, American Indian/Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Islander Americans, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education, in all discipline areas and a graduate education for those students pursuing studies in mathematics, science, engineering, education, or library science.
Nation's leading organization supporting Hispanic higher education. Website states HSF has awarded more than 61,000 scholarships in excess of $115 million to Hispanic students from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands who have attended more than 1,700 colleges and universities since 1975.
Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship Fund
Awards four-year scholarships to a academically gifted students of color with financial need, enabling them to attend the college of their choice. JR scholars also participate on the Foundation's unique comprehensive support system that includes leadership development, mentoring programs and career counseling. The graduation rate is 92%--the highest among comparable programs in the country.
NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. Scholarships
Designed to increase the pool of highly trained civil rights lawyers and other professionals who defend the rights of the African-American community. Among the nation's leaders today, scholarship recipients have distinguished themselves in the health professions, business and industry, and in the public interest sector.
National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) Inc. Scholarship Programs
Undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. students can benefit from the approximately $200,000 in scholarship awards that are distributed each year. In addition, the NBMBAA chapters conduct local scholarship programs, awarding funding to students in their area.
Scholarships are designed to
encourage students to pursue studies in computer science and related technical
disciplines. Offers four types of technical scholarships to current
undergraduate students: General Scholarship, Women's Scholarship,
Underrepresented Minority Scholarship, and Scholarships for Students with
Disabilities.
United Negro College Fund (UNCF)
"A Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Waste." Awards scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students attending a UNCF member college or university as well as to those students attending other historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and majority institutions. Search through thousands of scholarships and grants, many of which are administered by the United Negro College Fund. Access both UNCF administered scholarships and scholarships administered by other organizations.
National Association of Colored People ACT-SO Scholarships
High school students of African descent, who are citizens of the United States, enrolled in grades 9-12 and are amateurs in the categories of competition are able to participate. Intended to be a learning experience, first and foremost, local competition serves to showcase the hard work students have put in all year long. ACT-SO Students who receive gold medals on the local level then compete at the National Competition where they receive scholarships and other rewards provided by national sponsors.
National Dental Association Foundation (NDAF)/ Colgate Palmolive Scholarship
Provides financial aid to African American and underrepresented minorities pursuing careers as dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants.
National Institutes of Health Scholarships
Offers scholarship awards to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who are committed to careers in biomedical, behavioral and social science health-related research.
National Urban League Scholarship Program
Focuses on the identification and recognition of young people who exhibit the potential for success at the highest levels of achievement. The National Urban League Scholarship Program offers college scholarships to deserving students to attend some of our country's most influential and challenging institutions.
Public Policy and International Affairs (PPIA)Fellowship
Designed to prepare students, primarily from historically underrepresented groups, for graduate studies in public and/or international affairs and groom them for professional roles in public service. Offers an array of opportunities spanning a period of development from the junior year of college to beyond the completion of a graduate degree.
Awards scholarships to academically talented, highly motivated, African-American high school seniors who have demonstrated financial need, social commitment, and leadership potential. In addition to awarding each student $40,000 for college and providing guidance throughout their academic careers, the Program coordinates a wide variety of summer study-abroad programs and internships, and underwrites Scholars' attendance at leadership programs including the National Outdoor Leadership School.
Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund
Like Justice Marshall, a pioneer who rose to greatness despite tremendous obstacles, the Fund is a merit-based scholarship program to assist students who have demonstrated a commitment to education in spite of their own challenges.
William Randolph Hearst Endowed Scholarship for Minority Students
Offers scholarship in conjunction with a summer internship program open to members of minority groups based on need and academic excellence. Both graduate and undergraduate students are eligible for the award. Seeks to introduce a diverse group of students to issues relating to philanthropy, voluntarism, and nonprofit organizations. Recipients may arrange with their colleges or universities to receive academic credit for this experience.
